Getting to know.... Dave Train
Dave was born in Milwaukee, WI, and he spent his formative years in Detroit, MI; Birmingham, AL; Detroit Lakes, MN; and Dayton, OH. He and his wife Janey moved to Hilton Head in early 2003 and they both enjoy golf and sailing. They have two grown sons, David and Stephen.
He graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, OH; and he earned a BS degree in Industrial Design at University of Cincinnati. In his previous life, Dave was in Package Design & Development.
Ukulele was his instrument of choice in high school and picked up the banjo in college. He developed his vocal style back then as well. Dave was a founding member of the Queen City Jazz Band (Cincinnatti); played with The Dixieland Rythem Kings (Dayton), Gin Bottle Five & Two (Cincinnatti), Wilbur DeParis (NYC), Red Onion Jazz Band (West Orange, NJ); and played in Helsinki, Finland, with the QCJB in a State Department sponsored cultural exchange.
His favorite music is traditional New Orleans Jazz as played by Armstrong, Clarence Williams and King Oliver.
He is really pleased to have “found” the Dixieland Society and attends regularly. He loves the opportunity to play with others whoshare his Dixieland enthusiasm.
